The name of De Forville is closely related to a wine that has become more and more important over the years: Barbaresco. The founder, Gioacchino De Forville, with Walloon origins, in 1860 built up the first bonds between the family and the territory, and he immediately started to believe in the potential of Nebbiolo. Together with other producers, he followed the teachings of Domizio Cavazza, professor at the Royal Oenological School of Alba, defending and promoting the quality of wine. Bin: 150918.00

In addition to working with his family’s estate, Paillère and Pied-Gû, Bertrand Stehelin has also been producing and bottling wine under his own label since 2004. Stehelin farms about 3 hectares in Gigondas and 1.3 hectares in Sablet. His vines in Gigondas are planted between 100 and 300 meters above sea level and are all in the range of 70-90 years old. His vines in nearby Sablet are a bit younger, but the Grenache, which comprises most of the blend, comes from 40 to 60 year old vines planted on gently sloped, sandy soils. The Gigondas ages for two years in foudre, and the Cotes du Rhone Villages ‘Sablet’ spends 11 months in concrete.18.00

This extremely small-batch Grenache is from the same Blewitt Springs parcel of Grenache fruit as the Fugazi, but left on skins for a whopping 186 days. The story goes that Taras would remove the head of a seasoned Vosges barrique and fill it with bunches of their gorgeous Blewitt Springs Grenache (planted 1947). He’d put the head back on and pop it in the back of the shed. Then, the morning of International Grenache Day (186 days later) he would pull it out and press it through a vintage pillow case.Bin: 3208120.00

The tiny 2.5 acres of Vigna Sopra il Bosco is planted predominantly to the native Pallagrello Nero, with smaller portions of Aglianico and Casavecchia. Each vine here is managed and noted on fastidiously throughout the year, and come harvest, multiple passes are made through the vineyard over the space of 4-5 weeks to ensure that each bunch is picked at perfect ripeness. The iconic 2015 and 2016 vintages saw Giovanni take this even further, with the very best individual bunches selected in pursuit of a truly special riserva-style. Bin: 2308250.00

Gabaxo is Olivier’s only wine that blends fruit from various sites within Rioja. The Tempranillo and Graciano are from Rioja Alavesa, planted on rocky, clay-limestone soil at 500 meters above sea level. The Garnacha is from Cárdenas in Rioja Alta on red clay at 600 meters and from Rioja Baja.
